Ride Challenge… Week 3 with KP

Ride Challenge… Week 3 with KP

LA Fit Studio Ride Challenge

This week let's talk about COMMITMENT

Our Ride instructor, KP shares the goods to get you through Week 3.

Oh yeah. The C word.

What does committing to the challenge feel like?

Are you the kind of person who views a challenge as an opportunity to prove something to yourself and others – or are you the kind of person who views a challenge as something to be gotten through?

Mindful inquiry into what commitment means to you will have you show up, ready to ride, ready to honour the commitment you made when you signed up to the challenge – when you said yes to 20 classes in 5 weeks.

But first, in this second week of the challenge when maybe some of that initial enthusiasm of signing up has worn off, when there’s no DJ at the weekend Rides… đŸ˜‰

WHY did you commit?

How did you feel at the end of your first week, regardless of how you went and how many classes you attended? Did you ride harder? Sing louder? Did you make use of the release sessions on Tuesday and Saturday?

What does commitment look and feel like to you? Mark Manson explores commitment in his book – the subtle art of not giving a f*ck…

“Commitment gives you freedom because you’re no longer distracted by the unimportant and frivolous. Commitment gives you freedom because it hones your attention and focus, directing them toward what is most efficient at making you healthy and happy. Commitment makes decision-making easier and removes any fear of missing out; knowing that what you already have is good enough, why would you ever stress about chasing more, more, more again? Commitment allows you to focus intently on a few highly important goals and achieve a greater degree of success than you otherwise would. In this way, the rejection of alternatives liberates us—rejection of what does not align with our most important values, with our chosen metrics, rejection of the constant pursuit of breadth without depth.”

Often we see commitment as a constraint – something that limits us – but committing – really committing – actually  creates freedom – once we know what we have committed to, secure in the knowing, we can use our other non- committed time freely. There’s a delicious deepening that happens when we commit to something – a relationship develops that runs deeper than a flirtation. Are you and ride ready to go steady? đŸ˜‰

You committed to this Ride Challenge.

Now what do you want out of it? How far are you willing to go…
